1995 Operator of the Year Sells Business

Posted on October 1, 1995 by LCT staff

San Francisco was the site of two major business deals in the limousine industry. Carey Limousine, which has offices worldwide, finalized the purchase of Squire Limousine, owned by Limousine & Chauffeur’s 1995 Operator of the Year (large category) Butch Henke. Carey Limousine also purchased Chauffeured Limousine.

According to Henke, negotiations with Carey Limousine had bee in the works for close to seven years. “I’ve been in the business for 25 years and, basically, they made me an offer I could not refuse,” say Henke. “It benefits me personally and I now have major security for my family.”

The two companies will continue to operate as separate entities, both under Carey ownership. Henke will act as executive vice president in charge of both Carey San Francisco and Squire Limousine. "Basically, I'm still in full control. It’s just that I have a higher up to answer to in Washington, as we all do in one form or another," jokes Henke.

While Carey Limousine is committed to continued growth, Henke’s goal is to keep the quality of limousine service of these Bay Area companies at its highest level.

Henke said it wasn't a difficult decision to sell and he is extremely satisfied with the results. "Carey Limousine is a line organization and they've done everything they said they were going to do."
