GARDENA, Calif. — When Patricia Frierson founded La Fleur Limousine in 2008, she made it her personal mission to provide service of the highest quality with reliable vehicles. With previous experiences riding in limousines that broke down on the highway, she was motivated to open her own operation.

Frierson started out with a Lincoln Town Car stretch limousine, adding two Chevrolet Suburbans shortly after. She has since built her fleet to 13 vehicles.

Frierson started La Fleur Limousine with a friend, but when things didn’t work out, she brought in her two cousins, Michael Paige and Gina Walker, in July 2010 as terminal manager and office manager, respectively. La Fleur, which means “flower” in French, is the last name of their grandfather — a perfect fit for this family-run operation.

“When I joined in July, it took us a few months — until about September — to really get the wheels moving,” Paige said. “Watching the company grow has been fun. It’s a challenging and competitive business, but we’re really busy now and are able to compete with other companies. We started off by using, and it worked pretty well for us. It got our name out and brought us some clients.”

La Fleur also receives clients through affiliates and referrals from Brea, Calif.-based Krystal Enterprises, from whom La Fleur purchased all of its vehicles.

Strong client leads
Some of those clients included media-personality and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Wendy Williams; a music artist whom La Fleur took on a 14-day tour through Texas, Tennessee, and Ohio; several movie producers who required nine Lincoln Town Cars for three days; and a Malaysian doctor and his family of 20 who visited the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park, and San Francisco. La Fleur also has contracts to provide transportation for Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Chumash Casino, Valley View Casino, and the State Line Casinos in Primm Valley.

Frierson takes a hands-on approach to the business and emphasizes top-notch customer service. “It’s very important to her that our chauffeurs are on time,” Paige said, “and they check in all the time to keep us updated. They’re required to arrive at least 30 minutes before pickup. A punctual service makes the world of difference. All of our chauffeurs (men and women) dress up in our trademark black suits and gold shirts. Our vehicles are always stocked with soda water, ice, flowers and a basket of snacks.”

Paige said La Fleur practices simple but solid principles: Hard work, dedication, and a team of people who are just as dependable and dedicated to provide excellent customer service. “In this type of business, the wheels roll 24 hours a day,” he said.
