BERLIN, Conn. -- Premier Limousine, a Berlin-based luxury transportation provider that teamed up for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts with Houston Astros outfielder and New Britain native George Springer and local baseball team the New Britain Bees, on Sept. 13 reported a robust response from donors that attracted wide media coverage.

Results show:

  • Four semi trucks were filled triple-stacked
  • Thousands of donated items added up to 240,000 pounds
  • The Houston Astros raised $196,000 worth of donated items, surpassing their $100,000 goal
  • Premiere Limousine also donated two pallets of water valued at $1,000, plus several thousand dollars worth of labor of its managers and staff.

The event did not involve any cash donations.

At least three local Connecticut TV stations covered the Pack The Truck program that collected item donations that were then distributed to shelters in Houston and the surrounding areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.

From Sept. 5-7, Premier accepted donated items at its headquarters on 76 Fuller St., and on Sept. 8 it was joined by the Bees and Siracusa Moving & Storage at New Britain Stadium to gather all the donated items for a ‘Pack the Truck’ event that included a Premier a 30-passenger limo bus stuffed to the max.

Other local organizations partnering in the donation efforts include A-1 Automotive & Transmission and the Connecticut Blue Jays AAU travel baseball team.
