Small Businesses Look to Cash In Big From Super Bowl

Posted on January 22, 2014

NEW YORK — In about a week from now, the Super Bowl will bring throngs of visitors to the New York area - and small business owner Shlomo Chkifati, 24, already considers himself a champ.

His limo service, Luxor Limo in Red Hook, is 50% booked for Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 2, and will likely be sold out by game day. He's expecting a big spike in the days leading up to and after the event taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Chkifati has told all of the drivers of his 33-vehicle fleet of black cars, stretch limos and luxury vans they'll be working on game day, and has invested $20,000 in social media and pay-per-click campaigns.

The projected payoff: $210,000 in revenues during what's normally a sleepy time for the limo biz.

"Nothing comes close to this," Chkifati said. "Everyone in New York City that has to do with transportation, bars, hotels - all will be making money."
