Colorado Regulators Move Closer to Outlawing Uber

DENVER, Colo. — Over the next month, $1 million in pub lic and private money will be spent on a series of events in Denver to celebrate and bolster Colorado's reputation as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

A boiling regulatory dispute between taxi companies and a widely followed technology startup threatens to dampen those efforts, state and national tech leaders say.

Colorado regulators, after a year of meetings, filings and public hearings, moved a step closer this month to outlawing the black-car e-hailing service offered by Uber Technologies.
