ALBANY, N.Y. — Premiere Transportation Group purchased regional competitor, Diamond Limousine on April 29 for an undisclosed sum. With the deal, Premiere acquired all of Diamond’s accounts, as well as five limousines and two hearses, bringing its total fleet to 46 vehicles.

Premiere hopes the acquisition will help supplement its strong corporate business with Diamond’s share of the funeral transportation market. “This acquisition improves our fleet [usage],” said Premiere’s president and owner, David Brown. “Most of our limousines are used in the evening. Now those same vehicles will be able to assist with funerals during the daytime hours.”

Diamond was a former competitor to Premiere, but one Brown had a working relationship with. He had his eye on the company for quite a while. “I’ve been after this guy probably for the last 15 years to sell me his business,” Brown said. “He never had an interest.” When the owner of Diamond finally offered to sell and go into retirement, Brown jumped at the opportunity.

Brown said that for now the company will do business as Premiere Transportation-Diamond Limousine. Eventually he expects Diamond will be folded into the Premiere Transportation Group. Meanwhile, he wants to make sure funeral homes realize they will get the same level of service from Premiere as they got from Diamond.

“Funeral homes are very particular and they want impeccable service,” Brown said. “They want a great product. We look forward to expanding our relationships with the area’s funeral directors.”

The Premiere Transportation Group was founded in 1990 and is a full-service transportation company, providing limousine service throughout the Capital Region, including corporate transportation, executive car service, and airport transportation to JFK, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty and Logan.
