Stretch Limo Inferno Prompting Questions About Safety Practices

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Rashad Dababo of NLS Transportation LLC talks about the safety protocols and regulations for the limousine industry in a San Francisco local TV station’s follow up report on the deadly limousine fire on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Saturday night that killed five women.

Dababo said that the California Public Utilities Commission, which licenses and regulates charter party transportation in the state, recommends that every operator keep a daily vehicle maintenance record, but that fire extinguishers are not required to be in limousines.

Some newer models of limousines, however, come with fire extinguishers installed, and Dababo says that his operators are trained in CPR and in putting out small fires.
