Fight On New Zealand Party Bus Ends In Hospitalization

Posted on December 18, 2012

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — A party bus outing last Friday night ended in what Television New Zealand’s One News is calling a “complete bloodbath.”

Eight passengers were injured when a fight broke out on a party bus operated by Charlies Party Bus, based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The fight began when one passenger punched another, reportedly “over a girl,” and escalated when others tried to break it up.

The fight continued in the car park of the Golden Mile Tavern in the city of Templeton.

One passenger, a 21-year old male, was taken to Christchurch Hospital with a fractured nose and eye socket. Surgery was required to rebuild his eye and place a titanium plate in his cheek.

Charlies Party Bus manager Mark Turner was called to the incident to help out but did not see the fight. He said it was the party organizer’s responsibility for “bringing thugs on to the bus,” and the bus driver had done “everything he could” to break up the fight.

“He did a really good job,” Turner said of the driver. “What’s one guy supposed to do, you know? He did more than what’s expected of him.”
