RICHMOND, Va. -- James River Transportation opened a service desk at t the Richmond International Airport last October to better handle clients traveling in and out of Virginia's capital city.

"The Richmond airport operation exceeded our first year goals," said James River President Stephen Story. "Our ability to deliver business class service at affordable rates has been a hit with customers.”

James River Transportation recently partnered with Groome Transportation to help Groome transition out of the airport transportation business. Groome is exiting the business in order to focus on other areas of its operation.

Last year, the Capital Region Airport Commission awarded James River Transportation the contract to provide executive sedan service for area travelers as well as shuttle service to area military bases: Ft Lee, Ft Picket, Ft Eustis and Ft AP Hill.  The company has an office and counter space on the first floor as passengers arrive in Richmond. Customer service agents, chauffeurs and vehicles are on-site and available 24/7.

James River's service features Ford Flex sedans that have leather individual reclining seats with extended leg room, passenger climate controls, generous luggage space and a comfortable ride. The service also uses customized Ford vans with a center aisle that allows for easier boarding and seating comfort.

James River Transportation is a full service transportation provider and event planning organization with facilities located in Richmond, Williamsburg and Norfolk. The company also has on-site operations at Norfolk International Airport. Services include motorcoach and minicoach transportation, airport transfers, transportation management, contract services, and convention shuttles.

The company has been in business for more than 80 years.
