NTSB Delivers Crisis Management Training Seminar To Bus Industry

Posted on September 20, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Attendees at the American Bus Association’s 2013 Marketplace will have the chance to attend a one-day Crisis Management Training Seminar from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The training program will be led by top NTSB staff and will attendees through the steps of how the NTSB investigates an accident, the NTSB’s family assistance program, a motorcoach company’s role is in the investigation, crisis communication messaging, and how to deal and work with the media.

The seminar will take place at the conclusion of ABA Marketplace 2013 in Charlotte, N.C., on Jan. 10, 2013.

Attendance is limited to the first 50 people who sign up here and email their reservation to [email protected] or call (202) 218-7220.

The seminar is sponsored by National Interstate Insurance, a specialty-property-and-casualty-insurance holding company. The sponsorship brought the price of the seminar down to just $199 per attendee. National Interstate offers more than 30 different insurance products, including traditional insurance, innovative alternative risk transfer programs for commercial companies, and insurance for specialty vehicle owners.

The ABA believes that, although motorcoach accidents are rare, it is important that companies be prepared and have a comprehensive plan in place if there is an incident. ABA offers, as a free service to its members, the resources of its experienced, award-winning communications department if they need help and guidance in working with the media, whether it’s during the aftermath of an accident or when the company gets a call from a reporter and the motorcoach company, tour operator or destination needs advice.

“As transportation safety professionals, we all believe that exceptional training and education is the key to making sure the motorcoach industry continues to be the safest form of surface transportation,” said Michelle A. Silvestro, assistant vice president and national marketing manager for National Interstate. “This NTSB Training Seminar will give motorcoach owner/operators and key staff important tools they need to help understand their role in a crisis management situation. National Interstate Insurance Company is proud to be the exclusive sponsor for the event.”
