Baja Limo Gets Promo On Inside Edition

Posted on September 30, 2015 by

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Glen Main, owner of Baja Limo in Sacramento, Calif., is no stranger to television work. He’s rented his limos out before for TV news crews looking to use a vehicle for a segment, but his most recent work was recently featured on CBS’ Inside Edition program for the segment “Hidden Treasures,” where the news team finds people who have unclaimed money in their name waiting in the state’s holding account.

The show finds people from all over the country who have unclaimed funds, often from insurance policies they might not have been aware of, or from returned checks that went to old adresses they've since moved from.

There is $7.6 billion waiting to be claimed in California, and “Hidden Treasures” goes out to find people with substantial sums, to give them the checks while cameras roll. Main says the show’s producers contacted him looking for a limousine at first, but he knew from working with film crews for weddings that a traditional limousine might be too small.

“We said we’ll get you a vehicle no problem,” Main says. "But we knew from experience that the Sprinter would provide the most room for what they wanted to do.” In the segment, Baja Limo’s branding is visible on the exterior of the Sprinter, and the host even calls out the company name for their donation.

“For any company out there that wants to get publicity, these type of events can come by a lot, and really they’re just asking you for guidance," Main advises. "All you do is give them a little input.” The segment aired last month. Main says the nationwide exposure is something you can’t put a price on.

“We’ve done stunts similar to this for a long time, and it’s a good concept for anybody to promote their business no matter what market they’re in,” he says. “So often in business we get people hitting us up for free rides that it can be tempting to hang up and not offer anything. But if you go ahead and give them the freebie, it won’t cost you that much in the long run, and they can turn into national advertisements that you can’t buy. It’s priceless.”
