RICHMOND, Va. — James River Transportation recently launched a new ground transportation service at Richmond International Airport.

The Capital Region Airport Commission awarded the contract to also provide executive sedan service and shuttle service to area military bases: Ft. Lee near Petersburg, Ft. Pickett near Blackstone, Ft. Eustis near Newport News, and Ft. AP Hill, just south of Fredericksburg.

The military service is part of the airport contract and will be handled mainly by vans, said Craig Treanor, James River's director of sales and marketing. At times, James River will accommodate larger numbers by using minicoaches or full size motorcoaches. The other part of the contract for executive sedan service will be handled by the Ford Flexes and be available to the general traveling public.

The company has an office and counter space on the first floor as passengers arrive in Richmond. Customer service agents, chauffeurs, drivers and vehicles are on-site and available 24/7.

The new Ford Flex vehicles provide business class service at affordable rates. The Flex features leather individual reclining seats with extended leg room, passenger climate controls, generous luggage space and a comfortable ride. The service also uses customized Ford vans with a center aisle that allows for easier boarding and seating comfort.

Drivers receive the same award-winning training that all James River drivers and chauffeurs complete. The system includes defensive driving training, driving simulator sessions and extensive customer service training.

Clients will experience helpful team members and a comfortable and relaxed ride. Customers can make reservations on-line, by phone, by e-mail or in person.

The new service at RIC is similar to James River’s successful Norfolk International Airport airport service that was started in 2006. The combined locations now provide a transportation network for corporate travel, convention services and leisure travel for the entire region. With the addition of RIC, James River Transportation now has contracts at the two largest airports in Virginia outside of the Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia region.

James River Transportation is a full service transportation organization providing exceptional experiences with a variety of vehicles. Services include charters, chauffeured transportation, transportation management, contract transportation services, transit systems and convention services. Vehicles include motorcoaches, mini-coaches, vans, SUVs and sedans. The company has operations in the Virginia cities of Richmond, Williamsburg, and Norfolk.
