In its new form, Sidecar will provide a network of drivers that businesses can tap into so they don’t have to hire their own fleets — often a big obstacle for young on-demand companies. Sidecar is already delivering medical marijuana for Meadow customers, and its biggest enterprise customer is Eat24, an online food-ordering service. It even did a six-month pilot in which its drivers delivered Instacart grocery orders, though the two companies parted ways in June. Drivers in San Francisco now do as many deliveries as they do rides, and in Seattle, deliveries outnumber rides, Paul said.
