TNCs are the hot topic for Illinois operators, says ILA President Tracy Raimer.
SCHILLER PARK, Ill. — The Illinois Limousine Association (ILA) held its annual meeting May 20 at the Comfort Suites O’Hare Airport drawing more than 70 operators and guest speakers.
ILA President Tracy Raimer (Your Private Limousine, Buffalo Grove), told LCT that the “hot topic” is TNCs and the association is working with legislators to educate them about private transportation rules and regulations that should apply to TNCs.
“We’re in the learning and educating process because TNCs are not going away,” Raimer said. “What has been surprising is that we’ve come to realize that legislators have admitted to us they are uneducated about the issues regarding TNCs and the limousine industry."
In April, the ILA held its first Day on the Hill event in Springfield, the state capital, to build closer ties with key legislators. Six ILA members met with legislators and attended transportation committee meetings to learn about political procedures and to establish personal relationships to begin discussions on TNCs and other key issues.
“What is helping us in Illinois is we have more confidence in working with legislators regarding TNCs because we are reading about many of the legislative successes from other associations around the country — and that is encouraging.”
