HOUSTON, Texas — The Houston Area Livery and Charter Association held an association meeting on March 24, 2015, to reconvene the members under new leadership and to continue focusing the message asking for more TNC regulation.
After the stepping down of Erich Reindl as acting president last year, new president Wes Hart, of American Corporate Transportation in Houston, kept the agenda straightforward with two pressing issues for the night:
1) Two representatives from the City of Houston Administrative & Regulatory Affairs Department spoke about the reporting requirements that were placed into effect when Chapter 46 of the City Ordinances were modified. This reporting requirement requires all vehicles for hire to submit this information on a quarterly basis. The ordinance further requires that if a permitee (company) fails to report this information their permits will be revoked.
2) Another major issue is part of the modifications made to Chapter 46 to allow TNCs to operate legally in Houston. One Council Member submitted an amendment that passed requiring all vehicles-for-hire to have a total of 3% of their fleets be a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV).
