Phoenix Limo Company Deepens Reach Into Western U.S.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Driver Provider announced this week that it closed a deal Dec. 1, 2014 to buy Alltrans Inc., a 42-year-old transportation company in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The acquisition makes The Driver Provider, which already had operations in Jackson Hole, the largest chauffeured transportation provider in the state of Wyoming. Financial terms of the deal and annual revenues of the privately-held companies were not disclosed.

Alltrans Inc. has operated in Jackson Hole and Salt Lake City, Utah, for 42 years. Services include the Jackson Hole Airport Shuttle, Targhee Express, Gray Line National Park Tours, Yellowstone Winter Shuttle, Mountain States Express, Alltrans Park Shuttle and Alltrans Charters. The Alltrans divisions will continue to operate under their respective brand identities, websites, e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

With operations in Arizona, Utah and Wyoming, The Driver Provider can serve towns throughout the West that are leading corporate retreat and leisure destinations during all seasons. In fact, Jackson Hole was recently chosen as the best destination for private jet travel this winter by Presidential Aviation: Robb Report article here.

This acquisition also provides The Driver Provider a full range of service offerings including transportation to and from Salt Lake City as well as convenient service to Star Valley, Kemmerer, Cokeville, Evanston, and Park City, Utah. Park City is the site of actor Robert Redford's annual Sundance Film Festival, being held Jan. 22-Feb. 1.

The former owner of Alltrans Inc., John Pearson, sought out The Driver Provider, a friendly competitor, for the acquisition because Pearson and his family wanted to move to the East Coast to pursue other opportunities, said Jason Kaplan, the owner and CEO of The Driver Provider, founded in 1997. Pearson had owned Alltrans Inc. since 1994.

“When John decided to sell, he reached out to me and was kind enough to give me first right of refusal,” Kaplan told LCT. “We already have an office on Jackson Hole for higher end chauffeur service, but in this ski town, shuttle service and middle of the road price points are important as well with all the skiers. It was a natural progression for us to add service under a roof. It became a prudent purchase for potential growth for us.”

As part of the acquisition, The Driver Provider gained 44 vans, mini-buses and motorcoaches, bringing its total fleet count to 130 vehicles: 23 sedans, 24 SUVs, 32 mini-buses, four motorcoaches, 22 vans, 23 Sprinter Vans, one stretch limousine and one limo bus.

The deal also brings the company up to 183- full and part-time chauffeurs and drivers, and 35 supporting employees. All vehicles are company owned and all employees are W-2. The deal also includes Alltrans Inc. headquarters and mechanics shop in Jackson Hole.

The Driver Provider ranks among the largest chauffeured transportation operations in Arizona based on owned-vehicles and full-time employees. It also runs a branch with fleet vehicles in Tucson, Ariz.

The company’s client mix now breaks down to about 65-70% corporate and 30-35% retail/leisure, Kaplan said. “Business has been stronger in the last six to 12 months than at any time since 2008. We’re also reviewing some other very exciting expansions.”
