SAN FRANCISCO — Napa Valley-based California Wine Tours received a regional “Best Of” wine tourism award on Oct. 15 that gives it international recognition for its wine-tour related transportation services.

Each year, the Great Wine Capitals Global Network’s (GWCGN) “Best Of” Wine Tourism Awards offers hospitality leaders throughout San Francisco and Napa Valley the unique opportunity to showcase their best practices in a competition with other wine tourism businesses worldwide. There are seven categories in which to compete: restaurants; accommodations; architecture parks and gardens; art and culture; innovative wine tourism experiences; wine tourism services; and sustainable wine tourism practices. The regional winners of the 2010 San Francisco/Napa Valley “Best Of” Wine Tourism Awards were announced Oct. 15 at Domaine Chandon, last year’s global winner in the restaurant category. More than 50 entries were submitted for the categories.

Great Wine Capitals Global Network is an alliance of eight internationally renowned wine regions - Bordeaux, France; Cape Town, South Africa; Florence, Italy; Mainz, Germany; Mendoza, Argentina; Porto, Portugal; Bilbao-Rioja, Spain and San Francisco-Napa Valley. California Wine Tours operates sedans, SUVs, limousines, luxury limo vans, mini-buses, motor coaches and environmentally friendly vehicles as well as the Evans Airport Shuttles from Oakland and San Francisco Airports to/from Napa and Vallejo.
