PITTSBURGH – Regency Global Transportation Group, a leading chauffeured ground transportation company based in Pittsburgh, has launched a comprehensive program to measure and reduce its carbon footprint.
Using the services of Green Ride Global, Regency has designed a carbon reduction strategy aimed at cutting its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 20% over the next five to 10 years. Regency will achieve these goals through improved fuel efficiency, transitioning to new technologies, reduced electricity use, waste diversion, and employee education.
“It is important that we implement a program into our operations that is sustainable and measurable,” said Tom Miller, president of Regency Global Transportation Group. “Rather than simply purchasing a few hybrid vehicles and calling it a ‘green fleet,’ we are committed to limiting emissions at their source.”
With increased environmental awareness and concerns regarding climate change on the rise, Regency Global Transportation is implementing an environmental management system that is ISO 14001 compliant, and qualifies the company for inclusion in the U.S. EPA Climate Leaders program. Regency’s initiatives include:
-Evaluating the latest technologies in hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles
-Measuring, monitoring and reporting on business travel
-Retrofitting office lighting
-Diverting waste and instituting a company-wide recycling program
-Choosing biodegradable solvents and cleansers for vehicles and office
-Transitioning to a paperless office
-Establishing an in-house Environmental Committee
