Green Ride Global Launches Preferred Supplier List

Posted on December 17, 2008 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

TORONTO – Over 50 major corporations across North America are turning to the newly launched Green Preferred Supplier List when selecting ground transportation companies as their preferred suppliers.

The breakdown of corporations include major event companies, destination management companies, as well as corporate leaders such as Shell Oil Company, Ernst & Young, SAP, MetLife, Mayer Brown LLP, Balboa Travel and many more significant corporate users of chauffeured ground transportation.

Any organization that requests the ‘Green Preferred Supplier List’ will receive a monthly update highlighting all Green Ride Global member companies, the cities that they service, their environmental credentials and direct contact information.

“The excitement around the Green Preferred Supplier List in the corporate travel and event planning world is very significant,” says Justin Raymond, CEO of Green Ride Global.

“Any and all corporations are now able to differentiate between ground transportation providers that say they are environmentally friendly and those that can demonstrate actual reductions in their greenhouse gas emissions via third party verified supply chain reporting.”

Green Ride Global also announced that ROCKSTAR LIMO, a leading provider of chauffeured ground transportation services based out of Boston and Newport, R.I., has embarked on a comprehensive environmental sustainability program to reduce the environmental footprint of all aspects of their business.

Using the services of Green Ride Global, ROCKSTAR LIMO has designed a carbon reduction strategy aimed at achieving a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction of 20% over the next 5 to 10 years through fuel efficiency, the transition to new technologies, reduced electricity use, waste diversion and employee education.

With increased environmental awareness and concerns around climate change on the rise, ROCKSTAR LIMO has implemented an environmental management system that is ISO 14001 compliant and qualifies them for inclusion in the US EPA Climate Leaders program.

Some of the initiatives they are implementing include:

• Establishing an in-house Environmental Committee

• Evaluating the latest in hybrid and alternative fuel vehicle technology

• Measuring, monitoring and reporting on business travel and staff commuting

• Transitioning to a paperless office

• Retrofitting office lighting

• Diverting waste and instituting a company-wide recycling program

• Choosing biodegradable solvents and cleansers for vehicles and office

As the pressure builds for corporations and governments to “green” their supply chains, ground transportation service providers are an obvious source of GHG emissions to scrutinize.

“We are now accountable for our environmental footprint and achieving GHG reduction results,” says John Olinger, President and CEO of ROCKSTAR LIMO.

“We are taking a leading step in our market by leveraging the service we provide with our environmental commitments.” By virtue of using ROCKSTAR’s services, clients can reduce their own indirect emissions associated with their ground transportation use, thus reducing their own organization’s environmental footprint.
