Houston Operators Still Digging Out of Hurricane Devastation

Posted on October 8, 2008 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

HOUSTON – Joe Jordan, president of the Limousine Association of Houston, reports, “Houston limousine companies still are digging out (from the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Ike) after a brutal two and a half weeks with thousands of canceled runs, all street lights flashing red, and gasoline only available at a ration of $10 per visit after waiting in line for one to two hours.”

While the airports are back up and running with pre-hurricane flight schedules, many new ground transportation venues have cropped up in the George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport (IAH) that offer cost-cutting transport to arriving passengers – taking business from limousine companies and taxi companies alike. Operators in nearby Baton Rouge, La., also have experienced business-crippling effects from Hurricane Gustav which preceded Ike’s attack on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
