Royal Coachman Embarks on Sustainability Program

Posted on September 24, 2008 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

DENVILLE, N.J. – Royal Coachman Worldwide has embarked on a comprehensive sustainability program to reduce the environmental footprint of all aspects of its business, including "the greening" of its executive ground transportation fleet. Using the services of Green Ride Global, Royal Coachman Worldwide has designed a carbon reduction strategy aimed at achieving a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction of 20% over the next five-to-10 years through fuel efficiency, the transition to new technologies, reduced electricity use, waste diversion, recycling programs, and employee education.

With increased environmental awareness and concerns around climate change on the rise, Royal Coachman has implemented an environmental management system that is ISO 14001 compliant and considered the high-road among environmentalists. "What some companies are calling a 'green fleet' merely consists of parking a few hybrids on their lot," says Justin Raymond, President and CEO of Green Ride Global. "However, what Royal Coachman is doing is really addressing climate change by transforming their business accordingly and reducing their emissions at source."

Many of Royal Coachman's clients have committed to reducing their own GHG emissions. "Achieving environmental sustainability is everybody's responsibility," says Amy Birnbaum, CEO of Royal Coachman Worldwide. "More and more corporations are requiring their ground transportation providers to measure and reduce their carbon footprint." By virtue of selecting Royal Coachman's services, clients are effectively reducing their own indirect emissions associated with their ground transportation use.

"Our clients have their own environmental commitments in place and are building supply chains and choosing service providers that reflect the environmental shift in corporate values," says Jon Epstein, president of Royal Coachman Worldwide. "We are proud to fill their need for environmentally sustainable ground transportation."
