Company Car Becomes First U.S. Member of Green Ride Global

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Company Car & Limousine announced it has signed on as the first U.S. member of the Green Ride Global (GRG) Program, an environmental consulting company based in Canada, that assists in the greening of transportation companies.

As a member of GRG, Company Car becomes 100% carbon neutral, has initiated research and adoption of a cutting edge fleet of hybrid vehicles, and has committed to extensive chauffeur training on enhanced fuel efficiency.

Through a partnership with Green Ride Global, Company Car President Stephen Qua has developed a multi-faceted sustainability road map that will target a 50% reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions over the next 10 years.

To start, Company Car & Limousine is supporting the conversion of cow manure into bio-gas through the purchase of clean air credits. This bio-gas is then used to power entire farm operations thereby eliminating the need for traditional non-renewable fuel and electricity sources.

Tony Bos of Bos’ Dairies explains, “Because of the bio-gas digesters we use, we are processing the manure into something valuable. The bio-gas we produce is about 60% methane, very much like natural gas. We use it for heat and electricity. In addition to energy, we qualify for clean air credits.” These clean air credits allow limousine companies like Company Car & Limousine to support the growth of sustainable waste management practices.

The dairy farms are located in Fair Oaks, Indiana and produce enough greenhouse gas reductions to offset 20,000 cars or the equivalent of planting four million deciduous trees.

“The limousine industry is only just realizing the benefits of greening,” said Qua. “Parking a hybrid on your lot does not make your fleet green. It takes the certification of a third-party environmental authority to effectively communicate and stand behind your company’s green commitments.”
