Detectives Ask for Public’s Help in Finding Men Who Robbed Chauffeur

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Nassau police are asking for the public’s help in finding two men who robbed a chauffeur at knifepoint earlier this week.

Detectives said a man opened the limousine's door and put a knife to the left ear of the driver, a 27-year-old man, and demanded money and his cell phone. Another man, an apparent accomplice of the robber, stood at the limousine's passenger door.

At the time of the incident — 7:35 pm, Monday Nov. 5, 2007 — the limousine was parked at 683 Middle Neck Rd. in the Great Neck area of Long Island.

The driver complied, handing over his money and his work cell phone but kept his personal cell phone, which he used to call 911 as the two men ran toward Crampton Lane. The driver was not injured.

Detectives ask anyone with information on this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
