Town Car International Improves Operations by Installing Digital Dispatch System

NEW YORK CITY – Town Car International is improving utilization of fleet resources, reporting, and communication capabilities and sustainability programs (reducing idle and travel times) by installing Mobile Data Terminals capable of auto dispatch, GPS tracking, and vehicle status reporting, the company says. "Utilizing Digital Dispatch Systems' iPilot 8000 mobile computers and communications infrastructure with GT3's Odyssey software, on a public data network, we automated dispatch functionality with the ability to customize and match driver assignments or requests to specific categories of accounts and users of Town Car International, providing a higher level of customer service to our clients in an automated environment," said Apurva Patel, IT system designer. "By utilizing best-of-class software by our technology partners, we have built a customizable platform to deliver better on time performance, safety, and immediate billing and information resources, for Town Car International clients to manage their ground transportation at very competitive price points."

"TCI has integrated with many of the consolidating reservation, and reporting portals utilized by Town Car's corporate accounts for ground travel arrangement, billing, and spend management, while at the same time offering our website to the individual and other corporate clients for travel arrangements, billing and reporting. In addition, TCI is connected to reservation distribution systems available in the travel industry," added Ravi Shah, TCI's IT manager.

"TCI has installed the GPS-enabled iPilot 8000 in our vehicles, drivers have a navigation system and dispatchers can see the location of vehicles or track the ride. With the iPilot 8000(TM)'s integrated magnetic card swipe, passengers can swipe credit cards in the car and immediately get receipts by email or fax. Our technology, provides customers with a complete 'in-car solution.'"
