Carey International Supporting African Clean Water Program

Posted on July 9, 2008 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

NEW YORK CITY – Carey International Inc. announced the launch of its partnership with Global Ethics Ltd. of the United Kingdom to help fund a program to provide clean water to remote villages in Africa. Starting immediately, Carey will offer its clients “One Water” as the standard amenity in all of its Carey New York vehicles.

All the proceeds from Carey's purchase of One Water go towards building PlayPump water pumping systems in Africa. An imaginative way to improve people's lives by providing free, clean water, the PlayPump systems are innovative, sustainable, patented water pumps powered by children at play, Carey says. Installed near schools, the PlayPump system doubles as a water pump and a merry-go-round for children. While children play, clean water is pumped from deep underground into large storage tanks which are connected to taps, providing safe water for schools and their communities.

Carey has partnered with Global Ethics Ltd. for the past two years in the U.K. distributing One Water in their vehicles in this country, co-promoting The One Foundation at travel industry tradeshows and cross-promoting the concept through the distribution of informational literature. The One Water program debuts in July 2008 in Carey's New York vehicles, with plans in place to expand distribution throughout the Carey network.
