New Orleans Driver Arrested

Posted on June 4, 2008 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

HARRISON COUNTY – The failure of a rented limousine to show up to take some high school seniors to their prom has led to a New Orleans man's arrest on a felony false-pretense charge. Harrison County sheriff's investigators said John James Nicoll is believed to have done the same thing for limo rentals in neighboring counties.

Nicoll, 35, allegedly accepted $1,080 for a limousine rental in Harrison County the night of April 12. When the limo didn't show up for the prom ride, Nicoll failed to answer phone calls and later refused to return calls requesting reimbursement, said Frank Dawson, criminal investigator.

Nicoll advertised the business, A-1 Limousines, online and in the Real Yellow Pages, said Dawson. "We believe he did the same thing on five or six other occasions in Hancock County, Jackson County, and Forrest County," said Dawson. "He took the money and signed a contract. He was basically doing business out of his truck."
