NLA Goes to Capital Hill for Aid

Posted on November 8, 2001 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

Since September 11 the National Limousine Association (NLA), with lobbyist Barry Lefkowitz, has been working with the federal government in an effort to help the industry during these tough economic times.

Members of the NLA, including NLA President Barbara Pastelak, testified before the House Aviation Subcommittee on September 26.

Sen. John Kerry, Chairman of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, cited the data from the NLA as testimony to the need for Senate bill 1499, entitled The American Small Business Emergency Relief and Recovery Act of 2001.

The measure provides economic assistance to certain industries, including the chauffeured ground transportation industry, throughout the country hurt by the tragedies of September 11.

The NLA helped secure sponsors for the bill. Pastelak emphasized the great impact that the events of September 11 had on the chauffeured ground transportation industry in a letter to Kerry. He informed Pastelak that he planned to distribute the letter to the entire Senate.

The NLA also began working with the United Motorcoach Association in efforts to stress the economic impact that has befallen the entire ground transportation industry.
