Norwood, NJ — EmpireCLS Worldwide Chauffeured Services has taken a number of environmentally conscious measures as part of its corporate “green” initiative:
The company increased its fleet of alternative-fuel vehicles with the recent purchase of several Chevrolet Flex Fuel Suburbans. “As our vehicles come up for renewal,” said Richard Doherty, EmpireCLS national fleet director, “we are replacing them with hybrid and other alternative-fuel vehicles.” Already in use is the Lexus RX 400H Hybrid. Over the next several months further purchases will ensue, including the GMC Flex Fuel Yukons and biodiesel-fueled mini-coaches.
The company supplied about 30 chauffeurs to the U.S. Live Earth, which was held on July 7. Live Earth’s 24-hour, seven-continent concert series brought together more than 150 music artists and two billion people to trigger a global movement to combat the climate crisis. EmpireCLS provided the chauffeurs to drive E-Class BLUETEC® Mercedes Benz Sedans for the performers for the U.S. concert, which took place at Giants Stadium. EmpireCLS also provided chauffeurs for former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, who is the chair of the Alliance for Climate Protection and partner of Live Earth, and to Kevin Wall, founder and producer of Live Earth.
In addition to increasing the number of fuel efficient vehicles in its fleet, EmpireCLS has moved to green its practices as a corporation through recycling, efficient energy use, paperless policies, carbon offsets, and green partnerships. “EmpireCLS’ goal is to become a more environmentally conscious corporation,” said EmpireCLS Chairman and CEO David Seelinger. “We are mindful of the impact our vehicles have on the environment, and we are committed to doing everything we can to reduce greenhouse gases.”
