CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It’s been more than 20 years since Rose Limousine Service started out with one Rolls Royce, two drivers, and a promise of always being 10 minutes ahead of schedule. But now, the company has a new name, Rose Chauffeured Transportation LTD., and is moving its 55 employees to a $1.2 million, 26,000-square-foot facility, a substantial increase in size from its previous 6,000-square-foot home.
“We are trying to differentiate ourselves from a man running one car out of his garage,” said Andy Thompson, co-owner and son to company Founder H.A. Thompson. “We went to Boston and New York to see how the big companies do it.”
The company drives many celebrities and devotes one day a week to weddings, but the real business comes from more than 100 daily trips to Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. These runs helped generate sales of $3.5 million this year alone — a dramatic increase from the $1 million posted in 2000. A 35% increase is expected this year over last, marking this the third year in a row Rose has seen such a substantial increase.
