Carey San Francisco Shifts its Operations to CarbonNeutral

Posted on April 23, 2008 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

SAN FRANCISCO — Just as Earth Day began in San Francisco in 1970, Carey International, Inc. has chosen Earth Day and Carey San Francisco to announce that the company is expanding its partnership with The CarbonNeutral Company into North America. "All companies have environmental impacts and the chauffeured transportation industry's heavy reliance on fossil fuels certainly has a greater impact than others," said Carey's President and CEO Gary Kessler in making the announcement. "Carey, as a leader in chauffeured transportation, has a responsibility to approach the subject of environmental conservation with careful consideration, transparency, and deliberate action.”

Carey International began working with The CarbonNeutral Company in 2006, applying their approach to environmental mitigation to the operations of Carey's United Kingdom fleet. After nearly two years of positive effect, Carey International is expanding its partnership with The CarbonNeutral Company to its North American operations, starting with Carey San Francisco. “For Carey, environmental responsibility is more than adding a few hybrid vehicles to our fleet; it is a total, sustainable solution that will be represented by completely reducing Carey's carbon footprint to net zero, rather than a bullet point on a brochure," Kessler said.

The CarbonNeutral Company works with more than 300 businesses and 50,000 customer clients. The company helps clients apply a four-step approach to developing responsible and sustainable strategies to respond to global climate change. Over the past month, The CarbonNeutral Company has helped Carey San Francisco measure and reduce its CO2 emissions from vehicle operations, electricity use, business travel, employee commuting, and landfill waste.
