Boston — The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) presented Scott Solombrino, president/CEO of Dav El Chauffeured Transportation Network, with the association's highest honor — the Industry Icon Award. The elite award recognizes contributions to managed travel that are so important as to elevate an individual to the status of an industry icon. Solombrino was presented the award at the 2007 NBTA International Convention & Exposition, held in Solombrino's hometown Boston.
Suzanne Fletcher, NBTA President & CEO, said, "I am excited to surprise industry icon Scott Solombrino with this award. Scott's story is the American Dream in action. He's a self-made man who has excelled in the limousine and chauffeured transportation business through hard work and dedication. I think everyone in the business travel industry knows Scott's story of starting his own business at age 18 with one car and working his way up to lead one of the largest limousine businesses in the world."
Fletcher added, "Nowhere is Scott's enthusiasm and drive more evident than in his service to the business travel industry through NBTA. Scott is a tireless advocate for NBTA's government relations initiatives. He puts his time and money where his mouth is by being one of the largest donors to the NBTA Political Action Committee and by serving as chair of NBTAPAC. Scott also heads the NBTA Allied Leadership Council, a position that places him on the NBTA Board. His service in these positions has helped NBTA continue to expand as the leading business travel organization in the world."
In 2002, Solombrino was recognized by NBTA with the Allied Member of the Year Award. The New England Business Travel Association, one of NBTA's U.S. Chapters, also recognized his commitment to the advancement of the business travel industry with its 2004 Award for Leadership and Professional Excellence. In 1999, Business Travel News recognized Solombrino in its list of the Business Travel Industry's Most Influential Executives for his innovative approach to chauffeured services.
In addition to his work with NBTA, Solombrino has been an active member and leader in multiple transportation industry organizations. He is founder of both the Massachusetts Limousine Association and the National Limousine Association, and has served as president of both groups.
