GREENWICH, Conn. – Rudolph “Rudy” Spezzano, a pioneer of
the limousine industry, has died of cancer at the age of
Spezzano founded Rudy’s Limousine Service in 1957. The
company now operates the 38th largest fleet in North
America, as ranked by LCT.
“My father started with one car and built the company up
slowly from word of mouth,” said his son, Gary. “It just
blossomed from there.”
Spezzano turned over leadership of the company to his son,
Roy, in the late 1980s, but continued to closely follow the
industry, according to Gary.
Spezzano is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol; sons,
Rudy, Roy, and Gary; a daughter, Linda; nine grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren.
