New York Operator Pledges To Cut Carbon Emissions By Highest Amount Yet

Posted on June 23, 2010

MTC Limousine & Corporate Coach advances the cutting edge of industry green standards by becoming the first operator to aim for a 40% cut in greenhouse gas emissions.

BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y. -- MTC Limousine & Corporate Coach, Inc. has set a new standard for the chauffeured transportation industry by aiming to cut its carbon emissions by a whopping 40%.

This is double the 20% cut that has become the de facto industry standard embraced by many operators looking to green their companies.

MTC Limousine sets the bar for other transportation companies, said Patricia Charla, creator of Limousine Environmental Action Partners (LEAP.)

MTC Limousine is the first and only limousine/ ground transportation company to date to complete its carbon emissions baseline audit and to set its reduction goals with the Environmental Protection Agency, Charla said.

"We at LEAP and our members believe that a 40% reduction in emissions is not only achievable, but necessary if we are to go beyond business as usual," Charla said. "We believe it because a 20% reduction, for example, is reachable by virtue of the new cars that are coming out -- by doing nothing more than going along with the vehicle manufacturers' requirements."

MTC Limousine is among more than 25 chauffeured ground transportation companies that belong to the EPA's Climate Leaders Small Business Network. The program helps companies reduce their global environmental impact by completing inventories of greenhouse gas emissions, setting reduction goals and reporting their progress annually to the EPA.

According to the EPA, its Climate Leaders have been making contributions to the advancement of corporate climate change management practices. The companies not only reduce their impact on the global environment, but save money in the process through energy efficiency.

LEAP is helping MTC Limousine achieve its goal through a corporate environmental policy. The plan includes measuring, monitoring, and reducing the carbon and environmental effects of the business, in addition to creating a company culture of environmental awareness.

LEAP provides ground transportation companies and other fleet managers with solutions to emissions reductions that are both feasible and substantially better for the environment.

MTC Limousine is one of the largest privately-owned chauffeured ground transportation companies in the United States. It provides services at more than 500 locations worldwide. MTC Limousines includes in its large fleet of sedans, limousines and motor coaches alternatively fueled, and hybrid-powered modes of luxury transportation, part of the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
