DDS eFleet Services offers a feature enables eFleet users to provide their affiliates and customers with real-time views of their trip status and movements of the assigned vehicle.
RICHMOND, B.C. - Users of the eFleet system can now offer their customers and affiliates the opportunity to "Observe" their trips from anywhere via a web interface. This will reduce the number of follow-up calls necessary to verify that the trip is being carried out as ordered.
The system allows authorized users to track both the status of their trip and all movement of the vehicle performing the job. Authorization of observers is controlled by the eFleet system operator on a job-by-job basis.
When a job is dispatched through the eFleet system, it creates an email containing a link and a password. This email is forwarded to anyone the operator wishes to authorize to observe the trip. The email provides confirmation that the trip has been dispatched to the selected vehicle and acknowledged by the chauffeur.
When the trip begins, meaning the vehicle is on its way to the pick-up point, the observer can select the link, which will open up a browser showing the vehicle's movements on a map display. As the job status changes - such as arriving at the pick-up point, customer entering the vehicle, arriving at the drop-off point, etc. - the Observer web page displays the status updates.
In addition, an ETA calculation can be made any time the vehicle is on its way to its next stop. This will plot the intended route on the map and indicate the remaining distance and travel time to the next stop.
"This feature will be of great benefit to eFleet system operators as well as their affiliates and customers. It will provide greater detail, in real time, with much less effort than making multiple phone calls to communicate trip status," said Ray Fast, president of DDS eFleet Services.
