Clean-engine vehicle adds to the major operator's other environmentally responsible efforts.

BOSTON — BostonCoach said Monday it has introduced the Mercedes R320 to its chauffeured ground transportation fleet in select markets including Boston, New York and Philadelphia. The Mercedes R320's low emissions engine continues BostonCoach's green environmental efforts.

The Mercedes R320 BlueTEC engine provides excellent fuel economy and has been recognized as the world's cleanest diesel engine meeting the most stringent emissions standards. The vehicle also features a well-appointed interior along with excellent safety ratings that are typically associated with Mercedes Benz vehicles.

The addition of the Mercedes R320 follows other environmentally responsible initiatives from BostonCoach:

• Current BostonCoach vehicles that reduce the company's environmental footprint include hybrid vehicles in select markets.
• LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) silver certification for BostonCoach's corporate headquarters in Boston. The LEED Building Rating System is the preeminent nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of environmentally responsible buildings.
• Use of renewable energy credits from Renewable Choice Energy to offset 50 percent of the power used at the company's headquarters.
• Recycling programs for paper, plastic, glass, and metal products used by associates daily.

BostonCoach will continue to increase the use of environmentally sustainable vehicles, including those equipped with hybrid and other high-fuel-economy, low-emission technologies.
