1-800-GET-LIMO launches iPhone application for operator quotes on sedans, SUVs, and limousines

CARLSBAD, CA — With mobile devices such as the iPhone becoming ever more central to the lives of passengers and in some cases replacing the laptop as the computing tool of choice for many travelers, chauffeured transportation companies are racing to accommodate the need to bring their business offerings to the mobile world.

1-800-GET-LIMO, a network of leading chauffeured transportation providers launched earlier this year, has embraced the growing importance of mobile devices such as smart phones, becoming among the first companies worldwide to offer a sedan, SUV, and limousine locator application for the iPhone.

The new "GetLimo" application uses the iPhone user's GPS coordinates to locate his or her position on a map, then displays nearby 1-800-GET-LIMO National Limousine Network affiliates. Users can quickly zoom in or out to find luxury transportation providers throughout the country, or simply choose a different location from a drop-down menu of cities. With one click, the iPhone user can request a quote or call for a reservation.

"Passengers of all types, both business and leisure, are using their smart phones to make buying decisions and complete transactions," said 1-800-GET-LIMO president Mark Adkins. "The GetLimo app means that our network affiliates are now promoting their businesses through this popular new medium, the iPhone."

Available for free at the Apple iTunes store, the new GetLimo app is designed to give corporate travelers a reservation tool that is "platform neutral," working whether the passenger prefers to call, to go online, or to click on an iPhone app.

"I look at the new iPhone app as a prime example of how leading chauffeured transportation companies are using innovation and new technology to survive and thrive in an ever-changing business climate,"  Adkins said. "Our affiliates want to network with one another, while also putting their best foot forward to the corporate travel professional. The GetLimo iPhone app is a great tool for affiliates to achieve these goals."

1-800-GET-LIMO members do not pay any fees or commissions for quote requests or calls received through the new iPhone app, in keeping with the underlying 1-800-GET-LIMO business model which is to license specific area code extensions on the 1-800-GET-LIMO network to each affiliate for the affiliate's exclusive use in promoting the affiliate's own business.

Although it is not a broker or middleman, 1-800-GET-LIMO invests in marketing efforts to promote the 1-800-GET-LIMO network to the business travel community and passengers in general, connecting the resulting passengers directly to the member serving the passenger's locality.

About 1-800-GET-LIMO

1-800-GET-LIMO is a national limousine network that licenses the federally registered trademark "1-800-GET-LIMO" to premier luxury chauffeured transportation companies.  Affiliate limousine companies gain the use of the phone number "1-800-GET-LIMO" with their three digit area code as their unique network extension.  Passengers dial 1-800-GET-LIMO plus the Area Code where they need service.  Passengers can also go online to the 1-800-GET-LIMO website to request a quote, or use the new "GetLimo" iPhone app available for free download at the Apple iTunes store.

Regardless of the platform, passengers are directly connected to the local 1-800-GET-LIMO affiliate, with no brokerage fees or commission. Several of the industry's finest operators have joined the newly launched service, including several NLA board members, LCT Magazine's "Operator Of The Year Award" recipients, and other noteworthy companies.

The company is led by Mark Adkins, a Harvard Law School graduate who in 1999 founded 1-800-TAXICAB, Inc., which operates the 1-800-GET-LIMO business. The 1-800-TAXICAB taxi network pioneered many advanced ground transportation networking techniques, having routed millions of satisfied taxi passengers.  Member NLA, GCLA, TLPA, NBTA and MPI.
