MAHWAH, N.J. — Flyte Tyme Worldwide, a provider of ground transportation services in more than 350 cities worldwide, recently increased its fleet of alternative-fuel vehicles after buying several. The move is part of a long-term commitment to add more environmentally friendly vehicles to the company's fleet.
In early 2006, Flyte Tyme Worldwide President Tim Rose decided it was important – on many levels – to investigate all of the green options available to the luxury ground transportation industry. Rose noted that the addition of more flex-fuel vehicles is part of a "total green initiative," but acknowledges that there are no green vehicles available that meet all of the needs of his transportation firm.
In addition to these new flex fuel vehicles, the company also has added 15 Mercury Mariner hybrid vehicles to its New York-based fleet.
