Twitter is a platform through which users exchange ideas and conversations via short messages called tweets. Their length is limited to 140 characters and operate like guerilla warfare; the best ones are precise, creative, efficient and relevant. In today's hyperkinetic, attention-deficient world, microcontent such as tweets rule the day. 

Limo operators can leverage Twitter with the following tips:

  • Polish profile biography: Twitter's profile bio is limited to 160 characters, which is about the length of a text message. Be concise and precise about your business; focus on what you do and how you help people.

  • Understand hashtags: Hashtags are words in a tweet preceded by the # sign, i.e. #limo. These categorize tweets around specific topics. Make sure to label your tweets with relevant hashtags to ensure greater reach. If you are linking to a blog post or article about travel advice, include #traveltips or #travel in the tweet. Other hashtags to use are: #limo, #luxury, #biztravel, #roadwarriors

  • Create Twitter lists to organize whom you follow: An easy and effective tactic to minimizing the time and effort spent on Twitter while maximizing the potential for discovering effective leads is to create lists based on hashtags relevant to the type of clients you want. If you want to target business travelers, create a list for #biztravel and #businesstravel to see who is engaged on Twitter about the topic.
