Getting Ready for the Busy Time

Posted on April 1, 2008

April tends to start the busiest season of the year for most operators. But many operators enter this time unprepared by forgetting to check vital systems and replace worn parts during the slower periods. That can lead to breakdowns, flat tires, and other difficulties as vehicle usage increases. It is important to replace items such as tires, or stock up on others such as alternators.

Don’t Break Down Without It

Anytime your vehicles go out, they have the potential for some type of mechanical problem. It can happen to any vehicle, no matter the age, the make and model, or the quality of maintenance. That’s why you need an emergency tool kit. This kit should have the basic necessities to perform a minor emergency repair. It should contain:

• Socket wrench kit (metric)

• Combination wrenches (metric)

• Screwdrivers

• Tire plug kit

• Antifreeze coolant

• Assorted fuses

• Electrical tape

• Spare alternator/drive belt

• Half-inch drive breaker bar

• One can of fix-a-flat

• Flashlight
