LOS ANGELES — The staff at Econation, a green-vehicle chauffeured transportation company, is mourning the death of Nick Martinez, a dispatcher they had admired for his strong and humble work ethic. Martinez, 30, died late Sunday night in a Los Angeles hospital of complications from a sudden bout of pneumonia that he had developed last week. He leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter, Maraya. Although he only worked at Econnation for one year, Martinez was considered a close friend and member of the working family. “As a single father, Nick lived for Maraya and did all he could to provide a nice life for her,” said Econation managing partner Ben Bloch in a statement on behalf of the staff. “[Nick] was known as a good man who was very humble, never forgot where he came from, and always looked out for others.” ECONATION has established a memorial fund to help Martinez’s extended family and daughter with the funeral expenses. Several members of the Greater California Livery Association made contributions on Monday.
