BETHESDA, Md. — The National Limousine Association (NLA) on Tuesday donated $10,000 to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer to help support children’s cancer research at 175 hospitals nationwide.

“Each year, the NLA hosts fundraising events at our annual trade show in Las Vegas, NV,” said Diane Forgy, president of the National Limousine Association in a press release. “Annually we also select charities to receive the event proceeds. This year, the NLA selected CureSearch for Children’s Cancer in honor of 7-year old Owen Noriega.”

Owen was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) when he was just five years old. Now a year and a half into a three-year course of treatment at Children’s Hospital Central California, Owen is in second grade and doing very well. “Ongoing research and development of new treatments for children’s cancer is so important,” says Owen’s mom, Marybeth Noriega. “We are so grateful that CureSearch supports clinical trials across the nation so that children like Owen have access to care at hospitals close to home.”

This year, the NLA will once again host several special fundraising events, including a wine tasting and a silent auction, and donate proceeds to worthy causes.  “We are grateful to the NLA for this donation,” says John Lehr, president and CEO of CureSearch. “Funds raised through special events are vital to our ability to support children’s cancer research so that one day, every child can be guaranteed a cure.”

CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children’s cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children’s cancer. CureSearch raises funds for promising research conducted at more than 175 hospitals in the U.S., participating in National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials conducted by the Children’s Oncology Group.  CureSearch also funds other clinical, basic and translational research so that researchers can understand all aspects of children’s cancer, from its causes to its consequences.
