Nothing stirs the industry pot more than stating who has the most vehicles. But let’s be clear: The number of vehicles in a fleet in no way indicates quality of service. Top customer service is possible with one vehicle or 1,000.
The LCT 100 Largest Fleets list is strictly a snapshot of quantity at a given moment — not a measure of far more enduring quality traits. Like any B2B magazine with an active industry, LCT simply likes to provide an annual approximate list of the 100 largest chauffeured transportation companies worldwide.
This list arrives at the low point of the worst U.S. recession since WWII. Much is happening. Most operator fleets are down, and the shedding continues unabated. No company broke the 1,000 fleet vehicles threshhold this year.
This year's list includes:
1) A new first-ever format
2) Random supplemental lists derived from public records
3) A 50 largest motorcoach fleets list with charter and tour industry update
