Sedans Top Superstretches in Annual Revenue

Posted on September 1, 2000 by LCT Staff - Also by this author

Sedans hold the number one moneymaking slot for car fleets and form 27 percent of the vehicle types reported, the highest of any category. However, operators indicate that superstretch limousines (comprising 25 percent of the vehicles reported) bring in nearly as much gross annual revenue on average ($90,403 versus $86,569). Non-certified “extra-stretch” limousines come in below the smaller stretches (85 inches or less), SUVs and mini-coaches. Only vans and specialty limousines produce less revenue than the extra-stretches. Only four to five percent of operators responding to our survey indicate they are using buses and mini-coaches, but these vehicles are excellent revenue-producers, with the average bus revenue nearly double that of sedans. In other words, a relatively small number of operators are running buses, but those that do find they bring in big dollars.
