Using Social Media To Network At Industry Trade Shows

With the 2013 International LCT Show coming up, it’s a great time to go over how to use social media to enhance your experience. The official Twitter hashtag for the show will be #ILCT, so any tweets about the Show should include that so other attendees can view and join the conversation.

One thing many people look for during industry tradeshows are opportunities to network with other operators. While there will be plenty of networking events during the 2013 International LCT Show, operators can use social media to help them out.

If operators want to meet with specific companies or executives but don’t know their email addresses or phone numbers, they can contact them directly via Facebook or Twitter if they know their companies’ Facebook profile/pages or Twitter handles.

If an operator wants to network but isn’t connected to a certain company’s Facebook or Twitter, the operator can send out a tweet with the #ILCT hashtag and hope the operator, or others who know the operator, can reach out to them. Example tweet: Mike C. from @LCTMag looking to connect w/ Sprinter owners for article, meet me on show floor by Sprinter exhibit #ILCT

Operators who scan their Twitter feeds for the #ILCT hashtag will see my tweet and be able to respond or meet me at the appointed location.

The hashtag can be used to organize or find anything from a casual lunch to a closed-door affiliate meeting to a post-dinner afterparty. Pay attention to LCT’s Twitter feed for the #ILCT hashtag, and LCT’s Facebook page for real-time photo updates on things happening at the Show — a great way to keep the team members back home in the loop with new and exciting things from the Show!
