Calgary, Alberta, August 5, 2008 – Calgary-based livery service, TransProtection Security Services Ltd., was recently announced as one of three finalists for the Canadian Operator of the Year Award by Limousine and Chauffeured Transportation (LCT) magazine.

The announcement took place at the first annual Canadian LCT Conference, held July 21 and 22 at the Toronto Hilton.  The two additional finalists included Global Alliance of Toronto, Ontario and Rosedale Livery Service Ltd. of Mississauga, Ontario.  Global Alliance went on to win the award.

Being named as one of three finalists for the Canadian Operator of the Year underscores the rapid success experienced by TransProtection Security Services.  Established in 2004, the ground transportation service company is a relatively new player in the market, compared to other finalists, which are large, established service providers, each with more than twenty years of experience in the Canadian market.

“We are delighted to be recognized as one of the premier providers on a national level,” reports TransProtection President, Judy McBride.  “To be considered as one of the best operators of the year after starting the company only four years ago is indeed an honour.”

The announcement is considered to be reflective of the company’s unique blend of consistent high quality service and its significant growth since inception.

TransProtection is the first company in Calgary to combine a ground transportation fleet with extensive security, protection, and safety measures and which has provided service to such figures as Al Gore, Tony Blair, Colin Powell, Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones, and numerous dignitaries during their visits to Calgary and the surrounding area.

All of TransProtection’s driving personnel are former law enforcement officers, including the RCMP and Calgary Police Service.  They possess the collective expertise and experience to conduct special services, such as sweeps for listening devices and explosives prior to departure, as well as consistently ensuring the selection of the most secure and efficient routes.

Although most of TransProtection’s clients fall into the categories of corporate executives, dignitaries, or celebrities, the firm provides its services to all members of the general public.

As Judy states, “If one is holding or attending a special event and would like to organize professionally administered, luxury ground transportation, then we encourage them to contact us.”

TransProtection’s Canadian Operator of the Year finalist designation is also special for an additional reason: The company is headed by a woman, a relatively unusual case in an overwhelmingly male-dominated industry.

“Yes, I can run with the big boys,” Judy comments with regard to her male competitors.  “It certainly takes drive and commitment to succeed within this industry, but those qualities are not gender-specific.”

The first annual LCT conference was well-attended, featuring over 100 Canadian ground transportation companies of all sizes.

The two-day conference also featured educational seminars, with topics including Canada’s governmental incentives for the ground transportation industry, business basics, marketing, and green fleets.
